The Night of Mi’raj and the Last Two Verses of Surah Baqarah: Gifted to the Prophet ﷺ in the Heavens

The story of the miraculous Night of Mi’raj is one of the most extraordinary events in Islamic history. It is the night when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then ascended to the heavens. During this journey, Allah SWT gave him the gift of the last two ayats of Surah Baqarah– the Amana Rasul Ayat.

The event is described in a Hadith narrated by Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood, who said:

Night of Mi'raj

The story of the miraculous Night of Mi’raj is one of the most extraordinary events in Islamic history. It is the night when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was taken on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then ascended to the heavens. During this journey, he was given the gift of the last two ayats of Surah Baqarah, which are also known as the Amana Rasul Ayat.

“When the Messenger of Allah was taken on the Night Journey, he went as far as Sidratul-Muntahaa (The Lote Tree at the furthest boundary) which is in the Sixth Heaven. It is there where everything that ascends from the Earth stops, then it is taken from there. And it is there where everything that descends from above stops, then it is taken from there. Allah says: “Then that which covered the Lote-tree did cover it with Moths of gold.
On this Journey the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was gifted:
1)The five daily Prayers,
2) The final verses of Suratul-Baqarah (Amanar Rasul), and
3) Forgiveness for the major sins of his nation for those who do not associate anything in worship with Allah.” (an-Najm 53:16)

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever recites the two verses at the end of Suratul-Baqarah ( (Amanar Rasul)) in the night, they will suffice him.
